E-mail: Mid-year Fee Increase

Greetings colleagues,

I hope everyone is doing well.  Please let this message serve to clarify some of the details of the Regents recent approval of a mid-year fee increase and the steps the Financial Aid Office has taken accordingly.  For starters, the 32% increase refers to both 2009-10 and 2010-11 academic years.  Beginning Winter 2010 quarter, a mid-year fee increase for the remainder of the 2009-10 academic year of $585 for resident undergraduates and $633 for nonresident undergraduates will be implemented.  This increase will be divided over the remaining two quarters ($293 winter and $292 spring residents; $317/$316 non-residents).  The nonresident tuition fee of $22,021 is not being increased for the 2009-10 academic year.  The mid-year fee increase for resident Graduate students is $111 and $117 for nonresidents, also divided between winter and spring terms.

In the 2010 -11 academic year, there will be additional fee increases of $1,344 per year for resident undergraduates and $1,458 for nonresident undergraduates.   The nonresident tuition fee of $22,021 will not increase in 2010-11. Resident graduate students will also see a $1,344 increase and $1,398 for nonresidents.

Impact/Options for our students:

  • Most students who had their fees covered with grants and/or scholarships prior to the increase will not feel the mid-year fee increase as the Financial Aid Office has already adjusted aid packages to meet the increase.
  • Students who did not have their fees covered with grants and scholarships may increase their existing loans or accept them if they have not yet done so. This can be done electronically or in person during our customer service hours which are 10:00-2:00, Monday through Friday.
  • Also, students who have not already applied for aid can still do so for this year at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.
  • Students may wish to use the registration fee deferred payment plan (RFDPP) which allows them to extend payment of registration fees by enrolling via SISWEB at http://sisweb.ucdavis.edu.
